DATE(S) OF PRIOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION OF THIS ISSUE:
EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY: The Town of Vienna applied for and received funds from Visit Fairfax to administer programs related to Vienna250. The official Vienna250 organization is administered through Historic Vienna, Inc. (HVI) and the funds from Visit Fairfax should be donated to HVI to complete their proposed programming. Events and programs assisted by these funds include:
- Historical Encampment and Reenactment at Walk on the Hill
- Charles Broadwater Day
- Three Vienna250 Author Series Events with Bards Alley
- Materials for Chillin’ on Church including selfie frame, step & repeat, children’s crafts
- Community Flag Day Fair
- Time Capsule
- Appraisal Roadshow
- Symposium panel: Sparks on the Potomac
- Town of Vienna’s 60th Anniversary Halloween Parade
- Coloring books
- Educational activities for children at Town events
- General marketing expenses
Departmental Recommendation: Donate $56,000 to Historic Vienna, Inc. for purposes of Vienna250 administration.
Finance Recommendation: Recommend donating $56,000 of funds received from Visit Fairfax to Historic Vienna Inc. to administer programs related to Vienna250.
Purchasing Recommendation: Recommend approval.
Town Attorney Recommendation: The Town Council may approve the acceptance of funds from Visit Fairfax and approve the donation of the $56,000 to a qualified non-profit, specifically Historic Vienna, Inc., in the discretion of the Town Council.
Town Manager's Recommendation: I recommend the Town Council donate $56,000 to Historic Vienna Inc., as presented.
