Permanently adding an Eric Monday Foundation Banner (10 Minute Presentation)

BACKGROUND SUMMARY:
The Town of Vienna has space above Maple Avenue that is reserved for the placement of banners. Many of the weeks are reserved for use by the Town of Vienna. The weeks that are not reserved for use by the Town of Vienna are available for non-Town of Vienna users if they utilize the longstanding tradition of a lottery system that was established before I arrive here as Town Manager in 2011.
OVERVIEW:
The Eric Monday Foundation wants to permanently have a banner placed over Maple Avenue during the second week in May, each year going forward, which would bypass the Town’s established process. National Small Business Week is the first week of May and the Economic Development Department has used the first two weeks of May to support local shop small initiatives.
SUMMARY/STAFF IMPRESSIONS:
Town Staff can easily reserve the second week in May each year, if that is what the majority of Town Council wants.

Town Staff can keep the current system or provide an exception for the Eric Monday Foundation.
