EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
The Department of Public Works (DPW) is seeking Town Council approval to award Invitation for Bid (IFB) 24-22 to Chantilly Crushed Stone for Crushed Stone, Gravel, Sand and Other Aggregates; and to award an allocation of $159,300.00 for fiscal year 2025 spending.
As background, In FY24 DPW is utilizing a Fairfax County rider contract for recurring purchases of the subject materials that has expired. For FY25, DPW is competitively establishing a Town of Vienna contract for recurring purchases of the subject materials with the option for annual renewals.
Two bids were received for the subject IFB. One from Chantilly Crushed Stone with a total bid amount of $159,300.00 and the second from Vulcan Materials with a total bid amount of $309,200.00.
Chantilly Crushed Stone is the lowest bidder and has been determined to be a responsive and responsible bidder who has met the specifications of the IFB. Chantilly Crushed Stone will be utilized by the DPW Streets and Water Divisions to provide crushed stone, gravel, sand, and aggregates for backfill of street and water main repairs.
DPW is also requesting FY25 spending in the amount of $159,300.00 utilizing IFB 24-22.
Next Steps: If approved by Council, award IFB 24-22 for continuation of services after June 30, 2024.
