Title

Follow-up discussion of a proposed 2025 Virginia General Assembly legislative agenda with Senator and Delegate

Body

BACKGROUND SUMMARY:

Each year the Town Council adopts a Legislative Agenda to submit to the Virginia General Assembly for consideration.

OVERVIEW:

The Town Council may adopt a Legislative Agenda in its discretion.

SUMMARY/STAFF IMPRESSIONS:

The Town Council should discuss what proposed legislation the Town would like to submit or oppose and determine what legislative priorities are important for the Town.

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

I recommend the Town Councilmembers further discuss which topics are important to them in advance of the 2025 Virginia General Assembly and rank them accordingly.  This discussion should be a preview of the Town Council’s meeting with Senator Salim and Delegate Seibold and the November 18th Public Hearing, set for public input.  The pre-filing deadline for legislation is normally the first week of December each year.
