EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
At the June 1, 2026, Town Council meeting, Council considered a proposed amendment to the Vienna Green Streets Policy. Following discussion, Council voted to postpone action on the item and schedule a work session for July 6, 2026, with consideration at a subsequent Council meeting as soon as practicable.
Staff requests that Council amend its June 1, 2026, motion to reschedule the Green Streets Policy work session from July 6, 2026, to Aug. 24, 2026.
The postponement provides Council with additional time to evaluate potential policy enhancements that could further support the Town's tree canopy goals while remaining sensitive to the needs of residents and developers. The additional time will also allow Council to discuss a long-term strategy for maintaining trees planted on Town-owned property.
