Overview of processes and standards for installing stop signs

BACKGROUND SUMMARY:
A Work Session was held on April 15th, 2024 to review and schedule Council Member requests for future Work Sessions, and this subject was requested per Attachment 1.
OVERVIEW:
Staff will provide an overview using attachment 2 that will include existing processes and the currently utilized State and Federal standards/documents for stop signs and traffic controls. The Town currently utilizes local standards for traffic calming, the document is called: Town of Vienna Guide to Improving Street Safety (See Attachment 3).
SUMMARY/STAFF IMPRESSIONS:
Staff is presenting the established procedures/standards utilized for stop signs and traffic controls for Council consideration.
RECOMMENDATION:
If the majority of the Town Council agrees that Town Staff should work on this matter, then the next available Work Session to have a deeper discussion would be early next year.
