EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) approved Vienna’s 2013 Safe Routes to School (SRTS) grant request for a new sidewalk on the west side of Cottage Street SW, from Locust Street to Moore Avenue. This project was the top priority in the December 2012 Vienna Elementary School Travel Plan.
On June 6, 2016, bids were opened for IFB 16-11, Cottage Street Sidewalk Construction. Three bids were received and Sagres Construction of Lorton, VA was deemed the lowest responsible and responsive bidder with a bid of $307,980.
DPW requests award of this contract in the amount of $369,576 (quote + 20% contingency) to Sagres Construction.
Departmental Recommendation: Award $369,576 (quote + 20%) to Sagres Construction.
Finance Recommendation: Recommend approval.
Purchasing Recommendation: Recommend approval.
Town Attorney Recommendation: The Town has competitively bid the proposed construction contract, and Town Council may award the contract to Sagres Construction as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in its discretion.
Town Manager's Recommendation: I recommend the Town Council award a contract as presented to Sagres Construction.
