EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
The Department of Public Works requests approval in the amount of $200,000 to relocate a water main, transferring water services and abandoning the existing main. The existing water main needs to be relocated because the roadway grade is being lowered, which will cause the water main to be too shallow and subject it to damage from temperature changes and vehicular traffic.
A&M Concrete, the contractor awarded the overall sidewalk construction project, has performed pre-construction test pits to verify the water main location. Half of funding will come from NVTA and half from VDOT.
Departmental Recommendation: Recommend approval.

Purchasing Recommendation: Recommend approval.
Town Attorney Recommendation: Town Council may approve the proposed contract modification and authorize expenditure of funds in its discretion.
Town Manager's Recommendation: I recommend the Town Council approve the Marshall Road SW water main relocation project contract amendment as presented.
