Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force Payment

EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
The Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force began in 2003 as a multi-jurisdictional task force whose goal is to address criminal street gang activity in Northern Virginia using intervention, prevention, and enforcement strategies. When funding for the task force ceased in August 2013, the participating jurisdictions entered into a funding agreement to allow the task force to continue. The Vienna Police Department requests approval to pay Vienna’s FY2019 portion of the funding agreement, $25,000.
Departmental Recommendation: Police department recommends approval.
Finance Recommendation: Recommend approval.

Town Attorney Recommendation: The Town may participate in regional public safety cooperative activities in the discretion of Town Council.
Town Manager's Recommendation: I recommend the Town Council approve the Police Department’s expenditure for the Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force as presented.
