Planning Commission joint work session with Town Council to continue discussions regarding MAC text amendments

The June 27, 2018 Planning Commission joint work session with Town Council is a continuation of the May 23, 2018 joint work session on recommendations of the MAC ad hoc committee to the Maple Avenue Commercial (MAC) zone district.

 

The committee met on June 12 to address comments and feedback received during the May 23 joint work session. The attached document includes a minor revision to the text amendments discussed at the work session (at the top of page 4) along with several additional amendments (pages 4 - 6) that address residential density, building façade and massing. Also attached, as background information, is a table showing a range of dwelling units per acre for medium density residential developments applied to approved, proposed and potential MAC developments.

 

At the direction of the Mayor, the ad hoc committee was formed to research and develop potential amendments to the MAC zone district that would ensure future mixed use developments would not result in a loss of commercial activity along the corridor, but rather provide a balanced mix of housing, office and retail uses as was envisioned when the MAC district was formed.
