EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
Pursuant to the Town’s legal services contract with the Town Attorney, the Town Attorney may submit requests for supplemental legal fees for legal services provided in fiscal year 2017-18 not covered by the general legal service contract. Such fees include supplemental specific legal services requested by the Town, circuit and appellate court appearances, appeals of misdemeanors and traffic offenses to the circuit court, and other in-court litigation matters. Supplemental fees are charged at the contractual rate of $195/hour.

Town Attorney Recommendation: The Town Attorney requests payment for supplemental legal services provided. Town Council has been provided an itemized invoice detailing supplemental legal services provided. Of the amount invoiced ($20,667.30), $16,127.75 is within currently budgeted legal fees and approximately $4,539.55 is above that amount. For FY18-19 the Town budget should be sufficient to cover such supplemental items, which vary from year to year.
Town Manager's Recommendation: I recommend the Town Council approve the Town Attorney’s request for payment of supplemental legal services for FY17-18 as presented.
