Request approval for purchase of a John Deere 35G mini excavator

EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
The Department of Public Works proposes the purchase of a John Deere 35G mini excavator. The proposed equipment will allow the Town to keep streets open to one-way traffic in some instances and to excavate in tight quarters along easements. The Water Sewer Division currently has a John Deere 410K, which performs well. However, due to its size, the 410K requires a relatively large work area that necessitates the closure of most streets because traffic cannot pass safely. The 35G will be better able to navigate tight access areas. The equipment will be deployed to worksites using an existing trailer owned by the Water Sewer Division and towed behind a dump truck. This purchase will be made utilizing NJPA/Sourcewell Contract #032515-JDC.
