BACKGROUND SUMMARY:
OVERVIEW:
This work session is designed for Council to discuss and achieve consensus on strategic plan goals. An initial work session on this topic was held June 11. Staff has since provided Council with a draft of proposed goals for each focus area, based on conversation from initial goals work session and staff policy briefs.
SUMMARY/STAFF IMPRESSIONS:
The Town began working on updating its strategic plan in January with a kick-off session with Town Council. After Council identified focus areas, staff teams developed policy briefs that provided analysis of each of the focus areas, including an assessment of the Town’s current condition, trends, a SWOT analysis, and recommendations for goals/strategies. These analyses were presented to Council at the end of May. Council held an initial goals development work session in June, but, because of other agenda items, was unable to complete the process. Staff anticipates that once general Council consensus is reached on strategic plan goals, the process will again be picked up by staff teams who will make recommendations to Council regarding suggested strategies to achieve strategic plan goals.
