Transportation Safety Commission (TSC) motion for Pedestrian Improvements at the intersection of Lawyers Road NW with Malcom Road and Holmes Road

EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
During the meeting of the Transportation Safety Commission (TSC) on January 31, 2017 the final motion for the traffic calming on Lawyers Road NW was presented. The TSC adopted the following motion:
1. An additional crosswalk should be installed on the south side of Malcolm Road across Lawyers Road NW with new handicap ramps;
2. A new handicap ramp should be installed on the north side of Malcolm Road NW to straighten the crosswalk and make it more perpendicular to the road, and
3. A crosswalk should be installed on the north side of Holmes Drive across Lawyers Road NW with standard treatments.
DPW requests to use Sagres Construction for the motion for Pedestrian Improvements at the intersection of Lawyers Road NW with Malcom Road and Holmes Road utilizing utilizing on-call contract IFB 16-10 in the amount of $46,169 ($43,970 + 5% contingency of $2,199).

Purchasing Recommendation: Recommend approval
Town Attorney Recommendation: The Town has a contract with Sagres Construction and the Town Council may accept, reject, or modify the proposed recommended improvements and authorize improvements in its discretion.
Town Manager's Recommendation: I recommend the Town Council approve the motion for Lawyers Road SW as presented by the Transportation Safety Commission.
Cost and Financing: $46,169.00 ($43,970 + 5% contingency of $2,199)
