The Vienna Police Department requests approval to ride NJPA contract #110515 to purchase an electronic citation (e-citation) module and equipment from Brazos, a division of Tyler Technology, for a cost not to exceed $57,020.

EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
Commonly known as e-Citation, electronic ticketing is a faster, safer, and more efficient way for officers to generate traffic citations. Electronically generating a citation also allows for information to be directly transmitted to Virginia courts and the Town of Vienna's record management system.
This will allow the police department to drastically reduce the number of paper multi-copy citations they use each year. E-Citation also will streamline data entry of citations, which will allow for a more efficient and accurate process.
This entire project is being funded through the e-summons fee attached to traffic violation fines that the Town receives from the court system. The police department will ride NJPA contract #110515 for equipment, programming, and maintenance of the project.
Departmental Recommendation: Police department recommends approval.
Finance Recommendation: Recommend approval.
Purchasing Recommendation: Recommend approval.
Town Attorney Recommendation: The Town may ride the NJPA contract for the proposed purchase of an electronic citation module or solicit bids in the discretion of Town Council.
