Intent to Adopt a proposed ordinance to amend the Code of the Town of Vienna, Chapter 9, Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Article 1, In General, Section 9-3, Adoption of State Code, of the Code of the Town of Vienna.

EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
The General Assembly routinely adopts updates and amendments to the state code sections relating to traffic offenses and Driving While Intoxicated. The Town may adopt those changes by reference and incorporate them into the Town Code and has done so for many years.

Town Attorney Recommendation: The Town may adopt by reference provisions of the Virginia State Code related to traffic and Driving While Intoxicated offenses. The Town Attorney recommends the Town update the “incorporation by reference” provision of the Town Code.
Town Manager's Recommendation: I recommend Town Council adopt the proposed ordinance to amend the Code of the Town of Vienna Chapter 9 as presented.
