Request additional funds for the Park Street NE sidewalk improvements

EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
On May 7, 2018 the Department of Public Works requested funds for the Park Street NE sidewalk improvements project in the amount of $51,572. However, the actual task order amount should have been $72,548.48. For this reason, DPW is requesting that additional funds in the amount of $20,976.48 be approved.
Attached is a proposal and scope of work from Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP for $72,548.48 per the terms and conditions of RFP 17-02.
Additionally, new VDOT requirements associated with right-of-way and easement acquisition requires additional work and documentation not originally included in the scope. Attached is a scope and fee of $7,946.08 for additional services to accommodate this requirement.
The total additional funding being requested is $28,922.56. This project is funded 80% from VDOT and 20% from NVTA.

Town Attorney Recommendation: The Town has a contract with Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP, and Town Council may approve the proposed expenditure of funds in its discretion.
Town Manager's Recommendation: I recommend the Town Council approve an additional amount of funding for the Park Street NE sidewalk improvements project, as presented.
