BACKGROUND SUMMARY:

The Police Department will provide an overview of the emergency management process the Town follows and provide information on how the process works during an emergency.

 

OVERVIEW:

The Town of Vienna falls under the Fairfax County Emergency Operations Plan for all disasters or unusual occurrences that may occur.  For events that are smaller scale and limited to the Town of Vienna, the Town implements its own emergency management efforts.  The goal of emergency management is to prevent or mitigate the impacts of, prepare for, respond to, and recover from, a wide variety of disasters/unusual occurrences that could adversely affect the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of the Town of Vienna.

 

SUMMARY/STAFF IMPRESSIONS:

Staff feels this is important information to share with Council.

The purpose of this item is to provide Council with information about the Town’s emergency management program.
