EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
In October 2019, the Town was awarded $51,000 through a grant from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services for purchase of new in-car and handheld speed enforcement equipment. This is a reimbursement grant so the purchase will take place for the amount of $51,202, and the Town will be reimbursed $51,000. The difference will be funded from federal seized asset funds.

Town Attorney Recommendation: The Town may approve expenditure of funds and riding the state contract for the proposed purchase of radar and Lidar units or solicit bids in the discretion of Town Council.
Town Manager's Recommendation: I recommend the Town Council authorize the Police Department to ride a Virginia state contract, to purchases 11 in-car radar units and 10 handheld Lidar units, as presented.
