BACKGROUND SUMMARY:

 

The Town needs to establish a consistent, uniform process to determine which streets to install sidewalks via Maud Robinson Trust funds.  Attached is a draft process meant as a starting point and for Town Council to revise.  After the Town Council establishes the process that is to be used to install sidewalks, Town staff will work quickly to ensure that residents are able to enjoy having sidewalks on their street, in accordance with the new process.

 

OVERVIEW:

 

The Robinson Sidewalk Trust provides the Town with significant funding that can be used to install new sidewalks. Established guidelines that determine how this money may be spent.  To qualify for the Maud Robinson funds, streets that already have curb and gutter.  Also, the streets identified must not be on a list that has already been identified for sidewalk installation.

 

SUMMARY/STAFF IMPRESSIONS:

 

Town Staff supports the use of Robinson sidewalk funds for the installation of new sidewalks and is extremely grateful to the Robinson estate for providing the Town with these funds.

Town Staff recommends that a process is established that can be used by Town Staff to install sidewalk, in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the process that the Town Council chooses.
