Installation of Broadcast Equipment at Vienna Community Center for the Cable Access Channel

EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY: Request approval for the procurement, installation, and upgrades for the cable access channel to include a new alternate location for broadcast capability from the Vienna Community Center for live broadcast of meetings, community center events, and the addition of improved zoom meetings capability. The hardware included with this installation will include cameras, broadcast lighting, production switcher, monitors, overhead projector, overhead speakers, and microphones.
This project will be funded by the PEG fund reserved fund balance, and not with general or capital project funds. At June 30, 2020 the reserved fund balance totaled $1,079,586.
Strategic Plan Initiative: Vienna is an engaged community.
Departmental Recommendation: This item is recommended for approval in order to increase system capacity to allow for increased broadcast capability for the cable channel.
Finance Recommendation: Recommend approval.
Purchasing Recommendation: Recommend approval
Town Attorney Recommendation: The Town may ride the VCU contract for the proposed purchase of cable upgrade equipment and the Council may approve the proposed expenditure of funds in its discretion.
Town Manager's Recommendation: I recommend the Town Council approve of the procurement for upgrades as described for the Town of Vienna cable channel, as presented.
Cost and Financing: $290,760.96.
