EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY

 

This project will replace the Maple Avenue and Park Street Signal.

 

VDOT’s authorization to award the construction contract for the project is anticipated by March 21, 2022.

 

This project is fully funded by VDOT - SMART SCALE Funds.

 

Bids were received from three vendors for the subject IFB.  Bid results are detailed on the attached bid tabulation.

 

The low bidder was Richardson Wayland Electric Company with a total bid amount of $550,258.25.  The Town and VDOT have reviewed the bid submission and documentation and have determined the vendor to be responsive and responsible.

 

Award is recommended to be made in the amount of $550,258.25 to:

Staff requests approval of expenditure for the contract amount ($550,258.25) plus a 10% contingency ($55,026), total = $605,284.25.

 

Departmental Recommendation:  Recommend award of the construction contract.

 

Finance Recommendation:  Recommend award of contract.

 

Purchasing Recommendation:  Recommend approval

 

Town Attorney Recommendation:  The Town has solicited bids for the proposed street signal reconstruction project and the Town Council may award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in its discretion.

 

Town Manager's Recommendation:  The Town Manager recommends that Town Council consider awarding the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in its discretion.
