Planning Commission Comments to Town Council on Parking Study Utilization and Recommendation Reports

Background
At its January 10, 2024, meeting, the Planning Commission requested that it receive a presentation on the parking study that the Town Council initiated in 2022. On January 24, 2024, the Commission received a presentation from the consultant Nelson Nygaard and requested additional information and changes to the draft report and recommendations.
Nelson Nygaard returned to the Planning Commission on March 13, 2024, having taken into account some Planning Commission comments, including adding zoning recommendations.
At the end of the March 13th discussion, the Planning Commission decided that it would submit comments to the Town Council regarding the study, and that the Chair would work with Commissioner Noble to bring back a draft memorandum for review by the Commission.
Overview
The purpose of the April 10th discussion of this topic is for the Planning Commission to review the draft memorandum (Attachment 1), determine what, if any, changes it would like to make, and then vote to approve a document for transmittal to the Town Council.
The Town Council will be hearing a presentation by Nelson Nygaard at a work session on April 15th and then will discuss the report. The Planning Commission's input will be valuable to that Town Council discussion. As such, staff will ensure that the memorandum is forwarded to the Town Council and attached to its agenda packet as soon as it is completed.
