Acceptance of Byrne/JAG Law Enforcement Equipment Grant

EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:
The police department applied for a Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services Byrne/JAG Law Enforcement Equipment grant to replace all of the department’s moving and handheld radar and LIDAR equipment. After making some modifications to the application, the Town has been awarded $51,000 for this project.
The police department is requests that the Town Manager be authorized to accept the grant award.
Departmental Recommendation: The police department recommends accepting the grant.
Finance Recommendation: Recommend approval.
Purchasing Recommendation: N/A
Town Attorney Recommendation: Town Council may approve acceptance of the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services Byrne/JAG Law Enforcement Equipment grant in its discretion.
Town Manager's Recommendation: I recommend the Town Council authorize the Town Manager to accept Department of Criminal Justice Byrne/JAG Law Enforcement Equipment grant on behalf of the Town of Vienna, as presented.
