Title
Adopt a resolution to approve Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) applications for funding of transportation projects
Body
EXPLANATION AND SUMMARY:

The Town has applied to NVTA for two grants in the FY 2024-25 funding cycle. In order for the applications to be considered by NVTA, a resolution of support must be adopted by the governing body.

The following projects were applied for:

1. Patrick Henry Library Parking Garage - TransAction Project ID #199 - Vienna Metrorail Access Improvements

The Town of Vienna is engaging in a partnership with Fairfax County to incorporate 188 commuter public parking spaces into a planned reconstruction of Patrick Henry Library, which is located at the corner Maple Avenue and Center Street S. This site is located within 300 feet of four Fairfax Connector bus stops and along three bus routes that provide service to three Metro stations (Vienna, Dunn Loring, and Tysons). The site also is within 500 feet of the Washington and Old Dominion bike trail.

The Town's NVTA application requests $5.7 million in regional transportation dollars, which are collected from a portion of Northern Virginia sales tax.

2. BikeShare Stations - TransAction Project ID #198 - Vienna Regional Bikesharing

The Town of Vienna, in coordination with Fairfax County, is proposing to install and operate an extension of the regional Capital Bikeshare system, connecting residents to the planned extension of Capital Bikeshare at the Vienna Metrorail station. The Town's implementation of the Capital Bikeshare system will include up to four BikeShare stations throughout Town for a total cost of $232,400, including construction and purchase of assets.
